In Tarragona, a family says the private gym Viding Sant Jordi barred their seven-year-old son, Asier, from its summer camp because he has autism. His parents, also named Asier and Miriam, described him as sociable and affectionate.
The family says Asier had attended the gym’s summer camp for the past three years, from 2023 to 2025. They also say he took after-school swimming lessons at the same facility for two years.
According to his father, Asier was moved to a more advanced swimming group because he was doing well. The family says that makes the decision to exclude him from the camp especially hard to understand.
The case has been reported as a discrimination complaint linked to disability rights and children’s access to leisure activities. For background on related coverage, see our news tag.
