Tarragona is at the centre of a police investigation into a criminal organisation allegedly using several growshop businesses to supply large illegal cannabis plantations across Spain and Europe.
The Guardia Civil and Mossos d'Esquadra worked together on the case, which police say uncovered an extensive operation.
According to police, the group did not only sell products for plant cultivation. It allegedly offered a complete package for installing and maintaining intensive cannabis farms, with everything needed to set up and run the illegal operations.
The investigation suggests the businesses acted as a front for a sophisticated supply chain designed to provide equipment and materials to drug traffickers operating on an international scale.
