Noemí Llauradó, President of the Tarragona Provincial Council, visited Amposta and Ulldecona on Thursday to see various projects supported by the supramunicipal body. Her itinerary included the inauguration of a new Red Cross headquarters and inspections of local infrastructure improvements.

In Amposta, Llauradó participated in the opening of the new Red Cross headquarters. Located in the town's former retirement home, the facility received €160,000 in financial support from the Provincial Council for its renovation. This investment aims to improve social assistance services for residents, according to officials.

Llauradó and Amposta Mayor Adam Tomàs led the institutional representation at the inauguration. They were joined by Provincial Council Vice-President Enric Adell and Deputy Iris Castell, alongside senior representatives from the Red Cross in Catalonia, Tarragona, and Amposta. Attendees toured the new social services centre.

During her speech, Llauradó reaffirmed the Provincial Council's dedication to the Red Cross and the third sector. She stated, "We promote social inclusion and care across the region, offering economic and technical resources to local bodies and organisations that need them."

Ulldecona Projects and Road Works

Following the Amposta visit, President Llauradó, accompanied by Deputy Iris Castell, travelled to Ulldecona. Mayor Núria Ventura and other municipal corporation members welcomed them. Their visit included the municipal library, which benefited from €140,000 in Provincial Council funding for improvement works, among other municipal initiatives.

The visit to Ulldecona also included a stop at the site where the Provincial Council will start construction of a new bypass for the TV-3313 road, connecting Ulldecona to Godall. Scheduled to begin in June, the project represents an investment of over €1 million and is expected to take eight months to complete.

This new bypass will redirect heavy vehicles away from Ulldecona's town centre, helping to calm traffic and make streets safer for residents, officials said. The Provincial Council aims to improve local road networks and reduce congestion in urban areas.

Expoebre Inauguration in Tortosa

Later in the day, Llauradó was scheduled to attend the inauguration of the 80th Expoebre fair in Tortosa. She was joined by Vice-President Enric Adell and Deputy Iris Castell. Expoebre is a significant multi-sector event for the entire Tarragona demarcation, and the Provincial Council maintains its own stand at the fair.
