Tarragona has brought back the Bicicletada Popular after a six-year break, with hundreds of participants gathering on Sunday morning on Rambla President Francesc Macià for the family-friendly ride.

The event returned with a clear civic focus, bringing families and people of different ages onto the streets for a shared cycling activity in the city.

This year’s edition also carried added significance because of the upcoming arrival of the Tour de France in the region, which local officials say adds momentum to cycling in Tarragona.

The last Bicicletada Popular took place in 2020, so the return marks a notable moment for local cycling supporters and for the city’s wider community events calendar.
