Tarragona rail passengers will see a return to normal service from Monday, 8 June 2026, when R2 South and regional trains resume their usual route through the Garraf Tunnels to Barcelona.

The change means travellers between Tarragona and Barcelona will no longer need to make transfers, according to officials. It restores the direct route after a period of disruption linked to earlier works.

The usual itinerary is being brought back after the successful completion of exploratory white runs, test journeys carried out to check the condition of the infrastructure.

From Monday, the R2 South line and the regional trains from Tarragona are set to operate on their pre-works frequencies and timetables, returning the route to regular service for commuters and other passengers.
