In Figueres, Mossos d'Esquadra have found a mobile phone that was reported stolen two years ago from a train. The device turned up in a second-hand shop in the city, and police have charged the shop owner with handling stolen goods.
The case came to light on 15 May during a routine inspection of a second-hand goods shop in Figueres. Officers identified the phone as one that had been listed as stolen.
Police said the device had been reported stolen in 2022 after its owner lost it on a train. The shop owner could not provide proof of the phone's legal origin, so officers confiscated it and filed criminal charges for receiving stolen property.
Mossos also reminded the public that stolen or lost mobile phones should be reported as soon as possible. They said this helps with later recovery and with identifying those responsible for the theft.
