A person was seriously injured in a flat fire in Tarragona on Thursday morning, after suffering serious burns and smoke inhalation. Emergency services rescued the person from a third-floor flat on Carrer d'August.
Five fire crews from the Bombers de la Generalitat were sent to the scene after the fire was reported at 8.51am. Fire officials said the kitchen fire was fully developed when crews arrived.
The injured person was taken to Hospital Joan XXIII in Tarragona for treatment. Firefighters later extinguished the blaze and carried out ventilation work, as the flat was heavily affected by smoke.
The building has a ground floor and three upper levels. The fire was contained to the affected flat, preventing it from spreading further within the residential block.
Further checks on the cause of the fire are expected to follow. For more local updates, see our news coverage.
