Police in Figueres have recovered a mobile phone that was stolen almost two years ago on a train journey between Barcelona and Figueres.

Mossos d'Esquadra found the device during a routine inspection of a second-hand shop in the city, according to police officials.

The checks are part of a wider inspection programme aimed at businesses that buy and sell used goods. Police say the aim is to make sure shops are not handling stolen items, whether by accident or on purpose.

The owner of the phone has been informed that the device has been recovered. Police did not give details about any arrests or charges linked to the shop or the original theft.
