In Solsonès, teachers have formed a new assembly to press for better working conditions and pay. The group, called the Assemblea de Docents del Solsonès, says it wants to organise education staff across the comarca and push for a real negotiation with the Department of Education.

The assembly says it will use actions both inside schools and in the street to show its dissatisfaction. Its formation comes amid wider strikes and protests by teachers across Catalonia, as education staff continue to raise concerns about resources, workload and pay.

The group’s first public protest is scheduled for next Wednesday, 3 June, at 5.30pm in Plaça del Camp in Solsona. The demonstration is intended to bring the assembly’s demands into the public eye at local level.

The new body is part of a broader wave of mobilisation among Catalan educators. For more coverage of education and public-sector news across the region, see our news page.

The assembly says its next steps will depend on the response from the Department of Education. It plans to keep organising teachers in Solsonès while pressing for improved conditions and formal talks.
