Girona’s Rossinyol Project has ended its 2025-26 edition, with a closing ceremony held on Tuesday at Estació Espai Jove. The social mentoring programme is run by the University of Girona, UdG, in collaboration with Girona City Council.
The project is designed to support the inclusion and social integration of newly arrived students. It does this through Catalan language practice and by helping young people learn more about the city and its everyday life.
Throughout the academic year, university students volunteer their time to accompany children and adolescents from Girona’s schools and institutes. The mentoring takes place outside the classroom and gives participants practical support as they settle into a new environment.
The programme has been a regular effort by the university and the council to strengthen community ties. Officials say it helps bridge cultural gaps and build stronger connections among residents.
