Emergency services in Girona have resumed the search for a 16-year-old boy who went missing on Wednesday night during a guided jet ski trip in Roses. The operation restarted on Saturday morning after being suspended overnight, with the Bombers de la Generalitat and the Guardia Civil working together.
The search is now focused on the coastline between Pals beach and Begur. A helicopter is scanning the Cap de Begur area from the air, while the Guardia Civil is carrying out a marine search with divers checking specific coastal points.
The teenager's jet ski was found overturned on Pals beach, near Begur, on Friday. That was two days after the activity organisers reported that he had not returned with his group to Santa Margarida beach in Roses.
Officials are working on the hypothesis that the boy may have lost his life vest and then submerged. They have also said that sea currents make it difficult to determine exactly where he may be.
On Friday, emergency teams searched the coast by land between L'Escala and L'Estartit, and drones were deployed around the Medes Islands. The discovery of the jet ski in Pals widened the search area southwards.
