Lloret de Mar’s Santa Clotilde Gardens will welcome around 70 architects on 25 June as part of the UIA World Congress of Architects 2026, which is being held in Barcelona. The visit puts one of the Costa Brava town’s best-known heritage sites in front of an international audience of design and planning professionals.
The congress is organised by the International Union of Architects (UIA), together with the Superior Council of the Colleges of Architects of Spain (CSCAE), the Spanish Government and the College of Architects of Catalonia (COAC). According to the organisers, it will bring together more than 10,000 professionals from 130 countries.
The UIA World Congress of Architects 2026 Barcelona runs from 28 June to 2 July. Its programme includes visits to architectural sites across the Barcelona metropolitan area and other parts of Catalonia, with the aim of sharing the region’s built heritage with delegates and visitors.
Santa Clotilde Gardens was selected for this edition as an example of the relationship between architecture, landscape and the Mediterranean setting. Cultural Heritage Councillor Cristina Aymerich said the gardens show a respectful integration of nature and human intervention.
Aymerich also said the site reflects how landscape, biodiversity, coastal topography and architecture can coexist in balance. That fits with the congress theme, “Becoming: Architectures for a planet in transition”.
The visit also strengthens Lloret de Mar’s profile as a destination for meetings and professional events outside the peak tourist season. For more on local coverage, see our news page and our Catalonia news tag.
