Barcelona's historic Sant Ponç Fair is set to return to the city's Raval neighbourhood on Monday, 11 May 2026. The event, centred on Carrer de l'Hospital, will feature stalls selling candied fruit, honey, and medicinal herbs, honouring Saint Ponç, the patron saint of herbalists and beekeepers.
The fair is one of Barcelona's most traditional gatherings, though similar events also take place in Sarrià and El Farró. The main celebration on Carrer de l'Hospital will run throughout the day.
A Medieval Tradition Continues
The Sant Ponç Fair is among the oldest and most popular in the city, with origins dating back to the Middle Ages. Its roots lie in the discovery of the healing properties of medicinal herbs. Holding the fair in spring is no accident, as these months are considered the best time to maximise the effectiveness of the herbs.
The most significant iteration of the fair has been held on Carrer de l'Hospital since 1817. Before this, it was located in Plaça de Sant Miquel, Carrer de Sant Cugat del Rec, and around the Santa Creu church.
