Sant Feliu de Guíxols, in Baix Empordà, hosted the 11th Explica'm Story Fair from 12 to 14 June, turning the town centre into a three-day programme of storytelling and family activities. More than 25 events drew families and visitors to the coastal town.

The fair focused on stories for children, young people and adults. Alongside traditional tales, the programme included clowns, street theatre, folk stories, books, illustrations and crafts linked to the world of storytelling.

The opening event on Friday, 12 June, was a performance by Teatre Nu called La Llebre i la tortuga (The Hare and the Tortoise). The itinerant show moved from Plaça del Monestir to Passeig del Mar, before the fair shifted into a fuller literary programme on Saturday.

From 10am to 8pm, La Rambla hosted the main fair area, with workshops, book presentations, storytelling sessions and book signings at the stalls. Other parts of Sant Feliu de Guíxols also hosted activities, including face-painting workshops and modern board game sessions. For more local coverage, see our news tag.

Saturday also featured the Trobada Gegantera Ganxona, a gathering of giants from Sant Feliu de Guíxols. The parade began at 6:30pm and was followed by more storytelling, theatre and clown performances. One of the evening events was Contes per a adults: Contes per anar al llit (o no), which showed the fair’s aim to reach all age groups.

On Sunday, the programme began with a workshop by the Colla Gegantera Ganxona, followed by a Guillem Tell storytelling session. The final afternoon included a manipulative play area, a global reading space and a theatre show, before clowns closed the fair with Embolic by the Pau Casals company.

The Explica'm fair brought together classic stories such as L'aneguet lleig and La princesa i el pèsol, as well as newer titles including On fan pipí els peixos? and Contes per anar al llit (o no). It left Sant Feliu de Guíxols with a weekend of books, performances and street activity for all ages.
