Sant Cugat del Vallès will once again be the focal point for European youth fencing this weekend, as it hosts the International Sant Jordi Children's Fencing Trophy for the fourth consecutive year. The competition, organised by Esgrima Sant Cugat, will take place on Saturday and Sunday at the Guinardera pavilion.
The event starts on Saturday with the M14 category and the M15 sabre competition. Sunday will see the M15 and M12 foil tournaments. Fencers from Sant Cugat will represent the town in all foil competitions, including the M12, M14, and M15 categories.
International Participation
This year's trophy has attracted 433 participants from 24 different countries, according to the organisers. The consistent high level of international involvement highlights the event's growing importance in the European youth fencing calendar.
The tournament provides a significant platform for young fencers to gain competitive experience and test their skills against peers from across the continent. For Sant Cugat, hosting such an event reinforces its position as a centre for sports, particularly fencing, within Catalonia.
Looking ahead, the continued success and international draw of the Sant Jordi Children's Fencing Trophy could lead to further expansion or the introduction of additional fencing events in the town, strengthening its reputation in the sport.
