Barcelona’s Sant Andreu district will host the 47th Ciutat de Barcelona International Swimming Trophy at the Pere Serrat swimming pool on 30 and 31 May. The event is part of the Mare Nostrum Circuit and will bring swimmers from across Europe to the city.
Officials expect 700 participants from 46 countries, which would make this the second-largest edition in the trophy’s history. The programme follows the usual format, with qualification heats in the morning and finals in the afternoon.
For Catalan and Spanish swimmers, the trophy is an important warm-up before the Spanish Absolute Open Trials Championship in Mallorca, which is scheduled for 25 to 28 June. Athletes will need to post qualifying times in Mallorca to secure places at the European Championship.
The European Championship will be held in Paris from 31 July to 14 August. For more local and regional sports coverage, see our news page.
More information on the circuit is available from the official Mare Nostrum site: Mare Nostrum Swim Tour. Event details are also listed by the host venue, the Club Natació Sant Andreu.
