Three people received treatment for smoke inhalation after a flat fire in Girona on Friday morning, with emergency crews called to Carrer de la Rutlla in the Devesa neighbourhood.

The Generalitat Fire Service was alerted at 10.15am and sent two fire engines to the scene. Firefighters put out the flames, which started in the kitchen, and then ventilated the building.

The Medical Emergency System, SEM, attended the three affected people, who suffered mild smoke inhalation. Officials said none of them needed to be taken to a medical centre.

Once the fire was fully extinguished and the building had been ventilated, residents were able to return to their homes.
