Firefighters are working to extinguish a vegetation fire in Sanaüja, in the Lleida area of Catalonia, after it spread from agricultural land into a forested zone.
The Generalitat Fire Service has deployed 39 ground units, supported by three helicopters and four aeroplanes. The fire was reported at 13:02 on Saturday, according to an update on X, formerly Twitter, cited by Europa Press.
Officials said the fire’s speed has slowed as it moves down the ridge, but it is still burning intensely. Air resources are focusing on slowing its advance in the forest area while ground crews work across the affected zone.
The blaze covers about 40 hectares. Firefighters are continuing efforts to bring it under control and fully extinguish it in the coming hours.
