Salou, in Tarragona, will attempt to break a world record on 22 May 2026 by creating a 20-metre-long tiramisu. This ambitious culinary feat will mark the opening of the Sabor Salou gastronomic fair.

The giant dessert, made with hazelnuts and ratafia, will be prepared by chef Edu Cuesta and the Salou Hospitality Business Association (AEH), alongside several local cooks. The event starts at 7.30pm on the Jaume I promenade, where the fair will run until 24 May.

Sweet Treat for Charity

Beyond the record attempt, the tiramisu initiative has a charitable focus. Portions of the dessert will be sold for a symbolic price of €1 each, with all proceeds going to social organisations in Salou. These include the Red Cross, Cáritas, and Eluzai. Organisers expect to distribute over 2,000 servings to residents and visitors.

Sabor Salou 2026 will feature 56 gastronomic stands over three days. Offerings will range from tapas and rice dishes to gourmet burgers, seafood, international cuisine, wines, cavas, beers, and local produce.

Culinary Workshops and Tastings

The fair also includes a full programme of parallel activities at the GastroLab by Makro space. This area will host showcookings, culinary workshops, wine and beer tastings, food pairings, and children's activities. Highlights include Mahou-San Miguel beer tastings, workshops using Siurana Protected Designation of Origin (DOP) olive oil, Thermomix activities, and tastings of artisan honeys and wines from the Tarragona and Catalunya DOs.
