Roses, in Alt Empordà, brought together 700 people on 12 June 2026 for a walk in support of the rights and good treatment of older people. The event was organised to raise public awareness across the area, according to organisers.
Participants met at 9 am on Rambla Ginjolers. The programme began with a warm-up class and a reading of the manifesto before the walk set off on a 3 km circular route along Avinguda de Rhode and the Passeig Marítim.
To finish, the group performed a choreographed dance that they had practised using a demonstration video. The initiative had support from local social organisations, including educational centres, the Dr. Pi i Sunyer residence, the local health centre, and the town’s two senior citizens’ clubs.
Roses Town Council’s Elderly Affairs Department also organised related activities before the walk. These included a talk titled “La vellesa segons Dominga habla sola” and a session on “Drets sobre salut i documents de voluntats anticipades”, led by the Association for the Right to Die with Dignity.
