Storm damage halts R4 trains

Passengers on the Rodalies R4 line between Manresa and Terrassa are facing major disruptions this morning due to a fallen tree near Viladecavalls that struck overhead power lines. The incident, caused by weekend storms, has severed rail connectivity on the stretch, with no train service currently operating. According to Renfe and the Catalan government's Rodalies website, repair teams are on site working to remove the tree and restore the catenary system. No estimated time for resumption of train services has been provided.

Bus substitutions in place

In response, emergency bus replacements have been deployed between Manresa and Terrassa-Estació del Nord. However, early morning reports from Sant Vicenç de Castellet indicate significant delays and confusion. At around 08:00, commuters waited nearly an hour at a designated stop just metres from the station, with one arriving bus mistakenly travelling in the opposite direction toward Manresa.

  • R1: No service between Arenys de Mar and Badalona (bus substitution)
  • R2 Nord: No train service between Granollers Centre and Sant Celoni (bus substitution)
  • R7 and R8: Full route replaced by road transport
  • R11: Direct bus service between Girona and Sant Andreu; another between Portbou and Maçanet-Massanes

Passenger advice

Rodalies de Catalunya advises passengers to consult official channels before travelling. The situation remains dynamic, with infrastructure assessments ongoing across several lines. Further updates will be posted via rodalies.gencat.cat and real-time platforms like El Tren No Funca.

"We’ve been waiting close to an hour," said one commuter at Sant Vicenç this morning, as buses failed to align with passenger flow.
