Lleida has a new director for the Seu Vella Consortium, with Robert Porta appointed to the post at a meeting held this morning, according to sources from the organisation.
Porta, who is currently director of the Monastery of Les Avellanes, will replace Joan Baigol, who is retiring from the role. The appointment places him in charge of one of Catalonia's most important cultural heritage sites.
The post was filled through a management selection process that began in January. The Consortium received 21 applications, and seven were excluded because they did not meet the required qualification criteria, officials said.
The Seu Vella is a major landmark in Lleida and a key part of the city's heritage. For more local coverage, see our news page.
