In Girona, R11 train services between Girona and Figueres were halted from 5.15pm on 2 June 2026 after a power failure on the line, according to Renfe. The interruption affects services in both directions.
Adif, the infrastructure manager, said the problem was caused by a lack of tension in the catenary system on both tracks between Girona and Sant Miquel de Fluvià. The catenary supplies electrical power to the trains.
Renfe has arranged an alternative road service for passengers. Buses are running between Girona and Figueres and are stopping at intermediate stations to reduce disruption for travellers.
Adif staff are working to fix the fault and restore normal service, but no estimate has been given for when trains will resume. The R11 line links Barcelona with Portbou and serves Girona and Figueres along the route.
