Lluïsa Moret, First Deputy Secretary and spokesperson for the Catalan Socialist Party (PSC), stated on 11 May 2026 that the Catalan government has given "necessary explanations" concerning the infiltration of Mossos d'Esquadra agents into teachers' union meetings.

Speaking at the PSC's weekly press conference, Moret addressed the issue without using the word "infiltration". She said, "Regarding this specific and concrete event, the Generalitat government, which is the one that must provide explanations, has given and continues to give the necessary explanations in relation to this event."

Moret also strongly defended the Mossos d'Esquadra, highlighting their efficiency, effectiveness, and contribution to public safety in Catalonia. She remarked, "We firmly believe in the role that the Mossos d'Esquadra corps plays, precisely to guarantee this public safety."

PSC Refuses to Judge Infiltration's Appropriateness

Moret declined to comment on whether the infiltration was appropriate. She explained, "As a party, we do not have an opinion. The party does not opine. Parties are an organisation that evaluates and puts political positions on the table."

When asked about calls from the opposition for the resignation of Interior Minister Núria Parlon and Mossos Director General Josep Lluís Trapero, Moret explicitly supported Parlon but not Trapero. She stated, "We endorse the management carried out by the government and by the Ministry of Interior, led by Minister Núria Parlon."

Asked directly about Trapero, Moret responded that the PSC supports the public safety policies promoted by the government, adding, "This does not have names and surnames." She avoided giving explicit support to Trapero.

Moret clarified her position: "When I say that the PSC supports the government, the government's minister is called Núria Parlon. I want to make it clear that I do not speak about or evaluate Mr Trapero. What I speak about and what I evaluate is the action of the government, led by President Salvador Illa, who put public safety policies on the table as one of the priorities."

The PSC's stance suggests that the party considers the matter closed, at least from the government's side, while reaffirming its commitment to public safety and the work of the Mossos d'Esquadra.
