Roses, Girona – Port de Roses has revalidated its Blue Flag award for 2026, a recognition of its high environmental and quality standards. The official announcement came on 5 May, as part of the 40th consecutive year of the Blue Flag programme, which operates in 51 countries globally.

This new distinction confirms the port's dedication to sustainability, marine environment protection, and environmental awareness. It keeps Port de Roses as a leading sports port on the Catalan coast. To mark the 2026 Blue Flag, Port de Roses is organising two guided trips along the coast of the Cap de Creus Natural Park.

Promoting Natural Values

These trips are a joint effort with guided tour company Terramar and Magic Catamarans. Their goal is to share information about the natural and scenic values of the park, educate participants about the surrounding marine environment, and raise awareness about the importance of preserving nature.

The excursions are scheduled for 17 May and 18 October, running from 15:30 to 20:30. Tickets for these events can be bought through the Terramar website, according to port officials.

Catalonia's Strong Blue Flag Presence

Catalonia continues to hold a prominent position within the Blue Flag programme in 2026. The region has a total of 101 awarded beaches across 40 municipalities, making it the fourth autonomous community in Spain with the most distinctions.

For sports ports, Catalonia leads the national ranking with 24 Blue Flags, one more than the previous year. These are distributed across the provinces of Barcelona, Girona, and Tarragona. Additionally, Catalonia currently has 15 'Blue Centres', which are spaces dedicated to environmental education and awareness linked to the conservation of the coastal and marine environment.
