Firefighters are working to contain a forest fire in Ponts, in Noguera, after it started shortly before 6 pm on 14 June 2026. The blaze began near the urban centre and has now reached the summit of a nearby mountain, according to emergency services.

Seventeen teams are involved in the response, including five aerial units. The Generalitat Fire Service said high temperatures, strong winds and low humidity are making the operation more difficult.

The fire is the third significant blaze in Catalonia recently, according to emergency services. Crews are focusing on stopping it from spreading further towards populated areas and nearby natural spaces.

Conditions across the Noguera area have increased the risk of wildfire, with heat, wind and dry vegetation creating a fast-moving fire environment. That combination can make both ground and air suppression more difficult.

Local residents have been advised to stay informed and follow instructions from the authorities. Once the fire is under control, officials are expected to assess the damage and begin the usual investigation into the cause.
