300 seasonal jobs for ski and mountain stations

Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya (FGC), operating under the brand Pirineu365, will hire more than 300 seasonal workers to support operations at its six ski and mountain stations during the upcoming winter season. The roles cover a range of operational and service functions, including ski patrollers and lifeguards, ski lift operators, snow groomer drivers, administrative staff, maintenance technicians, ticket office and equipment rental personnel, mechanics, and information officers.

Key hiring sites in Cerdanya and Pallars

La Molina in Cerdanya and the Espot and Port Ainé stations in Pallars Sobirà will see the largest number of new hires, with 98 and 93 positions respectively. Additional staff will be recruited for Boí Taüll, Vallter 2000 in Ripollès, and Vall de Núria, also in Ripollès. Applications are open to candidates interested in working at any of the six Pirineu365 mountain complexes.

Boost for mountain economy

The recruitment drive supports economic activity in the Catalan Pyrenees. According to a study by the Sports_Lab Centre d'Estudis at Pompeu Fabra University (UPF), winter tourism at FGC-managed stations accounts for around 11% of the gross value added and 8% of total employment in the comarques of Alta Ribagorça, Pallars Sobirà, Cerdanya, and Ripollès. In the 2022–2023 season, FGC's mountain stations recorded 1.955 million visitor days, a 17.4% increase from the previous year, according to FGC’s 2023 Integrated Management Report. The strong performance followed exceptional snowfall, which helped the stations surpass one million visitors for the first time, with a total of 1,018,801 across the season, as reported by Gerió Digital. FGC aims to maintain high visitor numbers and service quality in the coming season through expanded staffing.

This recruitment call contributes to generating economic activity and creating job opportunities across the mountain regions.

Positions are part of FGC’s ongoing effort to sustain year-round use of its mountain facilities through initiatives like the Pirineu365 club, which promotes skiing, hiking, cycling, and outdoor recreation throughout the year.
