A person has died after being hit by an R4 Rodalies train in Terrassa, west of Barcelona, on Monday night, 27 April. The fatal incident occurred just outside Terrassa Est station.

According to Adif, Spain's railway infrastructure manager, the victim was in an unauthorised crossing area at the time of the accident, which was reported around 11:08pm.

Rail services disrupted

The incident led to the immediate suspension of rail services between Sabadell Sud and Terrassa. Authorities quickly organised an alternative road transport service to help passengers complete their journeys.

Catalonia's civil protection agency, Protecció Civil, deactivated the pre-alert for the FERROCAT railway emergency plan shortly after midnight, confirming the end of the incident.
