Tarragona is set to host filming for Sam Mendes’ Beatles biopic this Thursday, with actor Paul Mescal expected on location near the Nou Estadi.
Sources close to Diari de Tarragona said Mescal, who is due to play Paul McCartney, is expected to be present for the shoot. An extensive marquee has already been installed at the Tarragona venue for the production.
The Nou Estadi, usually home to Gimnàstic de Tarragona, will serve as the filming location for several scenes. The arrival of a major film crew is likely to draw attention in the city while work is under way.
Sam Mendes, who won an Academy Award for American Beauty, is directing a four-film project about The Beatles. Mescal’s casting as Paul McCartney is one of the key roles announced for the series.
