Palamós, Baix Empordà: Mossos d'Esquadra officers arrested a 29-year-old man twice in two days, on 11 and 12 May, for two violent robberies. The individual, who reportedly punched victims in the face before stealing their valuables, has been remanded in provisional prison by a duty judge, according to ElCaso.com.

The man, originally from Mali, has around 30 previous police records. The first robbery occurred on the night of 9 May when a man in his 60s was attacked on Carrer Major at 3am. The assailant threw the victim to the ground, punched him violently, breaking his nose and two teeth, and causing him to lose consciousness. The thief then stole his mobile phone and €500 in cash. The victim received treatment from a local police patrol and was later taken to Palamós hospital due to his injuries.

Investigation and Second Attack

The Mossos d'Esquadra's Investigation Unit from La Bisbal d'Empordà and the Palamós Local Police started an investigation to identify the attacker. They arrested him on 11 May, two days after the first assault. However, after appearing before a duty judge, he was released.

The very next day, on 12 May, at 11pm, the same man struck again. A young man in his 30s was sitting by a window on Avinguda de l'Onze de Setembre when the attacker, without provocation, punched him in the nose and snatched his phone. The confused victim sought help from a nearby shop worker, who called the emergency services. Mossos d'Esquadra officers took the victim's statement and soon after arrested the thief near the scene of the second assault. During the arrest, officers found a knife on the man and recovered the stolen mobile phone.

Catalan police also reported that the same individual had been arrested on 9 May, the day of the first violent attack, for a separate incident involving the theft from a car parked on Carrer de Voramar, also in Palamós. The duty judge at the La Bisbal d'Empordà investigating court has now ordered his provisional imprisonment.
