Mossos d'Esquadra are investigating a fight in the centre of Olot, Girona, on Tuesday, 12 May, which resulted in two people being injured. One man sustained a serious head injury and was taken to Can Ruti hospital in Badalona, according to ElCaso.com.
The investigation is proving difficult as those involved are not cooperating with the police. No formal complaint has been filed regarding the incident, officials said.
Emergency services received multiple calls at 3:30pm from witnesses reporting a fight in Plaça Palau, as first reported by Info Garrotxa. Municipal Police and Mossos d'Esquadra officers attended the scene, along with several ambulances from the Sistema d'Emergències Mèdiques (SEM).
Injuries and Hospital Transfers
Medical professionals treated both individuals at the scene before transferring them to Olot Hospital. One man, whose injuries were minor, was discharged shortly after. The other man, however, had a head wound caused by a blow from an unknown object. His condition worsened, leading to his urgent transfer to Can Ruti hospital in Badalona.
Mossos d'Esquadra have started an investigation to determine the reasons behind the fight. The Catalan police do not know if more people were involved beyond the two injured men. Both injured individuals are known to the police as repeat offenders.
Investigators are also working to identify the object used to strike the man who suffered the more serious injury. The police continue their enquiries despite the lack of cooperation from those involved, hoping to uncover the full circumstances of the incident.
