In Lleida province, a new pedestrian and cycle bridge will link Algerri and Alfarràs as part of the Noguera Baixa natural path. The 24 km route will cross five municipalities and is budgeted at €1.5 million, according to local officials.

The footbridge is estimated at €750,000 and will span almost 200 metres over the Noguera Ribagorçana river. It is planned to give walkers and cyclists a safe crossing, avoiding a gravel pit and the C-26 road.

The route will follow the river and connect natural and heritage sites in Torrelameu, Albesa, Algerri, Ivars de Noguera and Alfarràs. Alfarràs is in the neighbouring Segrià region.

The project is also part of a wider tourism and connectivity plan for the area. Officials say it could help support the local economy and form a future link between Lleida city and the Santa Anna reservoir, on a route that would extend beyond 40 kilometres.

Environmental work is built into the design, with restoration planned for affected areas, native planting and ecological monitoring. Other improvements include a car park near the waterwheel in Torrelameu, restoration of the Peixera area in Albesa, and upgrades to sections of the path running alongside the river.

The Urban Planning Commission has approved a change to the special urban plan, allowing the project to move forward. For more local updates, see news.
