L'Hospitalet de Llobregat is at the centre of a fatal road crash after an 18-year-old motorcyclist from the city died on Thursday night on the C-31, according to the Catalan Traffic Service (SCT).
The SCT said the incident happened at about 9:50pm at kilometre point 199, within the municipality of L'Hospitalet. The first collision involved a car and a motorcycle. While the drivers were exchanging details at the scene, a second car struck the motorcyclist.
The young man was taken to Bellvitge Hospital, where he died around midnight. Emergency services, including Mossos d'Esquadra and the Medical Emergency System (SEM), attended the site.
Authorities are investigating the exact cause of the second collision. The SCT said the death is the 51st road fatality in Catalonia this year, based on provisional data.
