Tarragona was at the centre of a major Mossos d'Esquadra operation on Thursday, as officers carried out checks across Camp de Tarragona targeting repeat offenders.
The operation, called Kanpai, took place in Sant Salvador in Tarragona, Sant Josep Obrer in Reus, Mas del Plata in Cabra del Camp, and Pisos Planes in El Vendrell. Police said the action mobilised officers across four Basic Police Areas, known as ABP.
According to officials, the main aims were to locate habitual criminals, execute pending legal requirements, and increase pressure on people with multiple offences and arrests.
The operation is part of a wider Mossos strategy to tackle persistent criminal activity in the area. Police say the focus is on people who repeatedly commit offences and contribute to local insecurity. More Catalonia news
Authorities expect similar operations to continue, with the aim of serving outstanding warrants and improving public safety across Camp de Tarragona.
