Mollerussa, in the Pla d'Urgell, put basketball at the centre of community activity on Friday afternoon, when Plaça Manuel Bertrand hosted an outdoor event for children and players from the CB Pujol Mollerussa first team.
The session formed part of Mollerussa's designation as Catalan Basketball Capital 2026. It was organised through the Gaudim Mollerussa programme, with players, coaches and technical staff leading a mix of recreational and sports activities.
The aim was to encourage physical activity, healthy play and community interaction. The day began with a presentation by the participating athletes, who shared their experiences and values linked to basketball.
After that, the square was set up as an open play area with shooting contests, ball relays and accuracy challenges. The format brought children and local players together in a public space at the heart of the town.
The initiative is one of several community actions under Gaudim Mollerussa. The programme receives funding from the Temps per Cures (TxC) programme of the Generalitat de Catalunya and is coordinated by Mollerussa City Council's Equality Department.
