Mollerussa, in Lleida, celebrated Sant Jordi's Day on 23 April 2026 with its 15th annual Loud Reading Marathon, featuring the works of Agatha Christie. The event, organised by the Jaume Vila County Library, honoured the 50th anniversary of the author's death.

Students from local schools and representatives from various organisations took part. They read stories of intrigue, mystery, and unsolved cases from a stage in Plaça de Manuel Bertrand. Mollerussa's mayor, Marc Solsona, opened the marathon, as is customary.

Christie, known as the queen of detective novels, was a central figure. However, a wide range of other authors inspired by the crime and thriller genres also featured. This reading marathon is part of the 'Mollerussa Reading Municipality' project.

The activity added to the festive atmosphere in the city. Streets were filled with over twenty stalls selling books and roses, alongside decorative items related to the celebration. This transformed the day into a significant cultural and community meeting point.

Sant Jordi's Day programming continued into the evening. From 6pm, the itinerant show 'Pigs' by the Campi qui pugui company toured the city centre's streets and squares. This reinforced the day's playful and participatory nature.
