Catalan band Mishima is set to host "La Nit de les Roses" (The Night of the Roses), a unique event blending music and literature, at La Paloma venue in Barcelona on 22 April. This special proposal revives the concept of shared artistic expression, bringing together different creative disciplines on the eve of Sant Jordi.
The event, led by Mishima's frontman David Carabén, aims to explore a dialogue with global pop music. The band will perform Catalan versions of songs, focusing on reinterpretation rather than strict fidelity, thereby bringing the tracks into a more personal and localised territory. This musical performance will share the stage with spoken word.
A selection of acclaimed literary figures is scheduled to participate, reading excerpts from their published works. These voices include Eva Baltasar, Pol Guasch, Carlota Gurt, Biel Mesquida, Dolors Miquel, and Gabriel Ventura. The initiative seeks to present literature beyond the confines of a book, creating a direct and shared experience with the audience in a live setting.
Scheduled for 22 April, the evening is designed to evoke a sense of ritual, incorporating subtle elements such as a specific rosé wine created in connection with the project. This delicate fusion of music and literature offers a distinctive cultural experience, perfectly timed as Catalonia prepares for its traditional celebration of Sant Jordi, a day renowned for books and roses.
