Barcelona’s Matas i Ramis Civic Centre, in the Horta-Guinardó district, has opened the first call for La Joaquima, according to the Barcelona City Council. The initiative is intended to support cultural projects in the local community.

The programme is designed to encourage artistic and creative activity at neighbourhood level. It gives residents and local groups a route to present cultural proposals that can add to the district’s offer.

Officials said the call fits with wider city efforts to decentralise cultural activity and make it more accessible. The civic centre will manage the selection process and provide resources for the projects chosen.

Projects may come from different cultural fields, including performing arts, visual arts, workshops and community events. The aim is to strengthen the cultural fabric of Horta-Guinardó and encourage participation from residents.

Further details on submission guidelines and deadlines are available from the Barcelona City Council. For more local coverage, see our news page.
