Barcelona’s Tibidabo Amusement Park is set to open Masia Tibidabo on 5 June, adding a new restaurant at the city’s highest point. Led by chef Rafa Zafra, the venue will serve Catalan cuisine and offer panoramic views over Barcelona.
The restaurant is located in the historic Masia building on Plaça del Tibidabo. Barcelona City Council officials said the opening coincides with the park’s 125th anniversary. The modernist-style building, inaugurated in 1901, has been renovated for the project by Varis Arquitectes, led by Dani Freixes.
Reservations will include a ride on the Cuca de Llum funicular, while parking will also be available for visitors arriving by private vehicle. The municipal company BSM manages the park, and the restaurant forms part of its plan to add more reasons to visit the summit.
Chef Rafa Zafra said he was honoured to lead the project. He said the restaurant will let visitors stay longer in the Panoramic Area, to sit, share and celebrate with seasonal Catalan food designed for both children and adults. Zafra, born in Seville in 1981, moved to Barcelona at 24 to train at elBulli with Ferran Adrià.
Masia Tibidabo has space for 300 diners and is divided into three areas, a central dining room, a viewing room and a terrace. The menu focuses on local produce and seasonal ingredients, with dishes designed for sharing, while a full wine list will also be available. The interior, also designed by Varis Arquitectes, uses warm tones, wood and adjustable lighting, with large windows framing views of Barcelona, the sea and the mountains.
