Girona was the setting on Sunday as the Marrecs de Salt marked their 30th anniversary with a day of castells in Plaça del Vi. The event brought together several colles and highlighted the strength of the casteller tradition across Catalonia.
Castellers de Vilafranca completed a 4 de 9 amb folre i l'agulla on their second attempt, a tower that had not been achieved before in Plaça del Vi, according to officials. The Colla Jove dels Xiquets de Tarragona also took part in the anniversary event.
The Marrecs de Salt loaded and unloaded the 4 de 8 and the 7 de 8, then later loaded and unloaded the 3 de 8. These results formed the core of their anniversary performance in Girona.
The Salt-based group said it wanted to confirm its place as the leading castells group in northern Catalonia during the celebration. Their anniversary day also underlined the shared effort that shapes major casteller performances in the region.
