Barcelona has completed the urban renewal of Marina Street, beside the Sagrada Família, the city council said. The works increase the amount of public space available for community use in this part of the city.

The project is intended to improve the area for residents and visitors, with wider pedestrian space and redesigned public areas around the basilica and the surrounding neighbourhood.

The council said the reurbanisation was designed to create a more accessible and practical public setting, with room for a wider range of citizen-led events and gatherings.

Officials have not yet set out specific activities for the newly available space, but they said the focus will be on cultural and social programmes. The project forms part of wider efforts to modernise infrastructure and improve urban living quality across Barcelona.
