Manresa was the focus of a teachers’ protest on Monday afternoon, when around 200 teachers and professors blocked the Vic road outside the Education Department building. The group was calling for improvements to their working conditions.
The demonstration came as teachers across Catalonia were voting on possible strike action. The Manresa protest added to wider concern in the education sector over resources, pay and working environments.
Traffic on the Vic road was disrupted during the protest, which took place in the city centre area. The action brought local attention to a dispute that is being discussed across Catalonia.
