Manresa City Council has opened nominations for the 12th edition of its Municipal Council of Senior Citizens’ Award, a civic recognition for older residents who have contributed to the city’s social and community development.

Applications can be submitted until 4 September 2026. The award ceremony will take place on 1 October, which coincides with the International Day of Older Persons.

The award is honorary and does not include a financial prize. According to the council, candidates must be over 65 years old, and nominations may be submitted by third parties, organisations or individuals. Full details of the call are available on the Manresa City Council website.

The jury will assess candidates’ active participation in the city, their personal history in the social field, and their efforts to improve the quality of life for older people. It will be made up of members of the Municipal Council of Senior Citizens, the Senior Citizens’ technician, and the delegated councillor for Senior Citizens, Mariona Homs Alsina.

The verdict and presentation will form part of the institutional event for International Day of Older Persons, scheduled for 1 October at 7pm in the Manresa City Council Session Hall. The award has been presented every year since 2015.
