Manresa will host its 27th child-friendly Sant Joan festival on 23 June, starting at 7.30pm in Plaça Major. The event, now in its 27th year, is designed for families and will again take place without fireworks.

The celebration will feature Picapoll, who first appeared last year, according to Regió7. Picapoll will welcome attendees before a concert by Jaume Ibars i els Trastos Band from Empordà, with songs, games and activities for children and adults.

After the arrival of the Canigó Flame and as dusk falls, the traditional Sant Joan bonfire will be lit in the centre of the square. This year, the children's bonfire will be lit by local sardana and dance groups, including Grup Sardanista Dintre el Bosc, Casal Cultural Dansaires Manresans, Manresa Dansa and Agrupació Cultural del Bages.

The festival is organised by Manresa City Council, with collaboration from Imagina't and ADF Pla de Bages. Manresa illustrator Sara Villarta Rodó created this year's poster.

Officials say fireworks are strictly prohibited throughout the celebration to keep the atmosphere calm and inclusive. The format is intended to make the Sant Joan tradition easier for more families to attend and enjoy.
