Manresa Backs Regional Industrial Strategy

The full council of Manresa approved today, Thursday 15 October 2026, its adherence to the Territorial Pact for Industry in the Bages region 2026–2030. The decision also includes the appointment of members to the sectoral participation body of the Consell Comarcal del Bages. This move aligns Manresa with a coordinated strategy aimed at reinforcing the industrial base of the Bages comarca, historically known for its strong network of small and medium-sized enterprises rooted in diverse economic sectors.

Shared Goals for Growth and Innovation

The pact, approved by the Consell Comarcal del Bages on 25 May 2026, sets out priority lines including industrial infrastructure and land, quality training and employment, innovation and competitiveness, and sustainability and energy. According to the Ajuntament d'Avinyó’s official notice dated 9 September 2026, the initiative seeks to coordinate actions between municipalities, social and economic agents, training institutions, and research bodies to attract, modernise, and transform industry across the region.

  • Development of a new digital platform, InvestinBages, to centralise industrial information and boost municipal visibility
  • Rollout of new industrial park signage, already completed in Avinyó
  • Support services for businesses looking to expand or relocate to the area
  • Studies on security and urbanisation conditions in economic activity zones

In the training and employment sphere, the pact promotes dual vocational training (FP Dual), industrial career guidance, skills accreditation, and targeted training programmes.

The new framework aims to consolidate regional priorities, pool resources, strengthen existing initiatives, and jointly assess results.

Innovation and sustainability are key pillars, with renewed InnoBages grants, business advisory services in cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and circular economy, and support for industry-linked research projects. Efforts are also underway to improve public transport mobility to major industrial zones across the comarca, as confirmed in the Avinyó municipal source.

Expanding Cooperation Across Municipalities

The Consell Comarcal del Bages will coordinate the pact’s implementation and is expected to sign a new framework agreement with all participating municipalities. This agreement will last four years and extend beyond current policies focused solely on economic activity zones, covering broader industrial strategy. The Ajuntament de Manresa has been actively involved in joint projects promoted by the Consell Comarcal’s Economic Promotion and Rural Development Service, reflecting its commitment to generating high-value industrial jobs within the municipality.
