Firefighters in Manresa are working to contain a chlorine leak at Aqualimp, in the Bufalvent industrial estate. The incident began this morning after a chemical reaction in an outdoor five-tonne container holding swimming pool waste and chlorine, according to the Generalitat Firefighters.
As a precaution, residents in one sector of the Bufalvent industrial estate have been confined while emergency teams deal with the leak. The response is focused on stabilising the container and stopping any further release of chlorine.
This is the second chemical incident of this kind at the same company in 15 days. The repeated nature of the leaks has put the site under closer attention from emergency services and local authorities.
The Generalitat Firefighters remain at the scene. More details on the cause of the reaction are expected as the response continues. For related local coverage, see our news page.
