Single-vehicle crash claims one life
A fatal traffic accident occurred Sunday, 9 August 2026, on the BV-3008 road at kilometer point 11 in the municipality of Fonollosa, in the Bages region. The Catalan Traffic Service confirmed that a car left the road and overturned in a ravine, resulting in the death of the driver, the vehicle’s only occupant. The driver was identified as X. M. B., a 51-year-old man and resident of Fonollosa. Emergency services received the alert at 09:00 h. Despite efforts by medical personnel to revive him, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Emergency crews respond
Three units of the Mossos d'Esquadra (regional police), three teams from the Generalitat’s Fire Department, and three medical units from the Emergency Medical Services (SEM) responded to the incident. Firefighters carried out extrication operations to remove the man from the wreckage.
The Area of Regional Traffic of the Mossos d'Esquadra will now lead the investigation into the cause of the crash, which remains under examination.
