Girona, Catalonia. Manchester City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak has said Girona FC will be backed to return to La Liga after relegation to the Segunda División.
Speaking in his end-of-season review for the City Football Group, and in comments to Manchester City club media, Al Mubarak said the club would do “whatever it takes” to get back to Spain’s top flight.
He described Girona’s relegation as “a very hard blow for everyone” and added: “We are very saddened by it. But that is in the past. Now we are not sad, now we are focused on what we have to do for Girona to return to La Liga. And we will achieve it.”
Girona FC, based in the city of Girona, is part of the City Football Group network. The comments point to a clear focus on the club’s immediate response to relegation and the work ahead before the new season.
