Residents from Roses, in Girona province, have visited the Pení Air Base as part of a council-led activity aimed at bringing older people closer to a facility that has drawn strong public interest.

The visit gave participants a chance to see the base’s installations and learn about the daily work carried out there. Local officials said the aim was to help citizens better understand the base’s function and strategic importance in the area.

Ester Navas, the councillor for senior citizens, thanked the staff for the welcome. She praised their approachability, professionalism and willingness to explain their work to the group.

Navas also thanked the attendees for taking part in what she described as a special and enriching experience. The Roses Town Council said it wants to keep offering activities that support active participation, local knowledge and shared community spaces for residents.
