Diada brings together Cerdanya communities
Lles de Cerdanya will host the 43rd Diada de la Cerdanya today, Sunday 4 October 2026, uniting residents and officials from across the comarca for a day of reflection, culture, and celebration. The event centres on the theme of resilient villages, addressing social, economic, and territorial challenges facing mountain municipalities. The day begins at 10:00 with the reception of authorities at the town hall’s plenary hall, followed by the General Assembly of Cerdanya at 11:00. This assembly serves as a platform for debate on the future of the region under the banner 'Pobles resilients' (Resilient Villages), organised by the Institut d’Estudis Ceretans and local councils as reported by La Valira.
New tourist information point opens
At midday, Lles will officially inaugurate its new tourist information point, enhancing visitor services in the municipality. This opening marks the transition from institutional proceedings to public festivities.
Street celebrations begin at noon
Cultural activities take over the streets starting at 12:00 with a cercavila – a traditional parade – featuring capgrossos (giants) and the group La Col, accompanied by musicians Pep Lizandra and Ivan Caro. At 12:45, the Colla Castellera de Cerdanya performs in Plaça de Sant Pere, followed by a concert from musical group Ondina at 13:00. A popular lunch takes place in the same square at 14:00, offering a space for community gathering. Throughout the day, a handcrafted producers’ market runs alongside wooden games for children, expanding access to local goods and family-friendly entertainment.
Afternoon honours sport and rural women
At 16:30, the Diada recognises the sporting heritage of the comarca, highlighting local athletic contributions. This is followed at 17:00 by a concert from Lídia Pujol and Dario Barroso in Plaça de Sant Pere. The day concludes at 18:00 with the multidisciplinary performance Entre Mans – Dones pageses, dones dempeus, which highlights the role of women leading agricultural farms in the region – a key element of Cerdanya’s cultural and economic landscape.
The Diada de la Cerdanya has brought together towns from both sides of the border since 1981, reinforcing shared identity and transborder cooperation.
Today’s event reinforces bonds between Cerdanya’s towns, celebrating common cultural, economic, and social values while addressing future challenges such as depopulation, climate change, and rural sustainability.
